Design Notes
Literature review showed strong evidence that transport of arsenite into bacteria often limits remediation capacity of the whole remediator. Hence when considering choice of protein channels, we set parameters to find a transport protein that is widely used in E.coli and is specific to arsenite. When designing the composite part, we consulted with our mentor on how to best express a bicistronic gene and she recommended adding a RBS between the glpF sequence and modified MTIA sequence.
